Spring is almost here! Hooray!
Officially the calendar is saying Spring is near, but perhaps the weather in your area, like here where I live, hasn’t heard.
With all this stormy weather around the country, I believe it’s not too soon to put some Spring into our lives right now.
Many of us have a yearly ritual of Spring cleaning our homes and yards at this time of year.
- We clean out closets and garages.
- We clear away the dust (or for farmers, the mud) that has accumulated over the winter.
- We polish windows.
- We tidy up the yard
- We prepare the soil for flowerbeds and gardens.
Just as we do such cleaning, and tidying to our outer surroundings, it’s the perfect time to do some Spring cleaning in our inner world.
Consider your thoughts. Eliminate the ones that have accumulated over the winter that are no longer serving you.
You can recognize those thoughts by the repeated thinking that bring about the same, unwanted results month after month.
Whether or not Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,” it’s a great quote!
Repeatedly thinking the same thoughts that bring about the same unwanted results creates emotional debris that weigh us down emotionally and physically.
Once we recognize this unhealthy pattern and decide it’s time to experience something new, we can Spring clean our inner life, and invite in fresh thoughts, which then invite new opportunities and events into our experience.
So, while we’re scouring our homes and sprucing up our yards, why not do the same to those
dusty, stagnant, cluttered thoughts and make room for new experiences this Spring.
Let’s experience a new clarity of vision for this coming season.
With love,

Summer is drawing to a close where I live. However, I find myself doing pretty much what you describe in your blog. Tidying things up, cleaning and clearing before the wintry rains and frosts settle in. Preparing my nest for the coming months. But you are so right the mind needs just as much cleaning and clearing so that the winter is only the weather outside and not inhabiting my mind, heart and soul. Thank you, Melanie. I really enjoy reading your blogs.

How beautifully said, Carmel! “…so that the winter is only the weather outside and not inhabiting my mind, heart, and soul.” So very true! Thank you for the gift of that lovely insight!? Thank you!
