My family and I watched “The Chronicles of Narnia” the other day. It had been awhile since I had read the books by C.S. Lewis and if you have never read his books or seen the movies created from them, I highly encourage you to do so.
I was once again deeply moved by the story full of rich and powerful symbolism and imagery.
How similar to our lives is the journey of these four youth who at first have no recognition of
who they are, quick to deny that there is anything special, much less powerful, about themselves. Yet as they faced each hardship and trial, not perfectly, but doing the best they could, faltering and with mistakes, they grew in knowledge of who they were. They discovered a greatness within and a confidence that developed as they grew in wisdom and knowledge through those difficult and painful, times.
So, also do we grow in confidence and knowledge of who we are and our incredible power and gifts that are within us, as we face our trials with perseverance and faith. We may not see the growth within us but it is happening, just the same.
There is always hope and there is always a way. Hold fast to what is true and you will be led.
Let’s continue to look forward to this year, with confidence and excitement in our direction, trusting that all things will come together for our good.
With love,
