I unashamedly look for the good in all situations.
I say unashamedly because there was a time that I stopped acknowledging the positive because I’d see the rolled eyes or hear comments such as, “You’re such a Pollyanna,” as if that was a bad thing.
Those comments don’t bother me anymore and I now choose to actively search for the good.
So, I ask you? Why not? Why do anything other than look for the good?
Say you’re waiting in a long line at the grocery store, or stuck in a traffic jam. You have two choices – be miserable and grumpy or turn it into a positive experience.
I once almost missed my flight because of the choice to look for the good.
The wait was long. People were tired and cranky. I sat down next to a woman and we struck up a conversation. We got so involved in each other’s stories and so enjoyed each other, we hadn’t noticed that everyone had boarded the flight!
What a surprise to hear both our names announced over the intercom! We looked at each other realizing we didn’t even know each other’s names until that moment and laughingly, albeit a little embarrassingly, grabbed our bags and boarded the plane.
Everyone on that flight had to wait the same amount of time (ok, maybe we all had to wait a minute or two longer while they paged two inattentive fliers. J ) but for me and my new friend, the time we waited seemed incredibly short and so much fun! I don’t remember the long wait. Instead, I remember the fun and the connection made with a fellow traveler.
Why not change your perspective and look for the good in everything?
It might actually change your entire experience to one of deep meaning, connection and joy!
I’d love to hear from you, any experiences of turning a situation around all because you chose to look for the good. Share below or shoot me an email.
