Before rushing headlong into the New Year, I invite you to celebrate the past year, to take the time to reflect, ponder and learn from all your varied experiences.
Only as I sat down to review and reflect did I realize the many gifts that have come to me by way of my participation in life.
Let me share a few and hope you feel inspired to ponder and invite the spirit of reflection so you too can find the gifts in your experiences.
– My daughter arrived in Ukraine almost exactly a year ago and has been serving as a representative for our church. Supporting her and experiencing vicariously, from afar, her spiritual growth has likewise created a year of spiritual growth for me.
– A deep inner turmoil and challenge forced me to decide whether I would claim my self-worth. In doing so, I learned courage.
– Business opportunities and the incredible amount of work involved invited me to get clear on my purpose and hone my focus.
– The heartaches and challenges of each of my children, and their ability to overcome have deepened my respect and appreciation for each one.
– Both losing and gaining some weight is providing me the opportunity to readjust some health goals and take action, all while learning to be more kind and compassionate with myself.
– Difficult farming seasons have tested and strengthened my marriage and also taught me patience and faith.
I could easily have glossed over and quickly forgotten these lessons if I had not taken the time to review and reflect on this past year’s experiences.
There are many more I could share, but I’m hoping you’ve been inspired and your wheels are turning to remember your experiences, the lessons learned and the gifts being offered you.
Doing so will allow you to begin the new year with an open heart and with excitement in looking forward to discovering the gifts in every new experience!
With best wishes for a beautiful 2018 for you and your loved ones!
Much love,
