A humorous mis-read led me to realize that I might be making my life harder than it needs to be.
As I walked past a sign out front of a financial service center, I read, “Sign up for your digital pineapple.”
Wondering if a digital pineapple was a term for a new service I didn’t know about, I kept walking.
Only as I glanced back at the sign did I read correctly, “Sign up for your digital account.”
I felt a little embarrassed at my mistake as I remembered the prescription glasses buried deep in my purse.
But, I justified…
I don’t really need glasses.
The prescription is minor. (I’m still legal to drive without them)
Glasses are inconvenient, and uncomfortable.
My rationalizations got me thinking about other areas of my life where I refuse the help available.
What about you?
Do you make your life harder than it needs to be?
Do you tend to:
-believe you have to push through every difficulty on your own?
-stay upset longer than the situation warrants?
-hold to beliefs out of habit rather than a conscious decision?
-feel overwhelmed and easily frustrated?
You are not alone.
Know that there is much you can do to overcome these hinderances to a happy life.
Many helps are as simple as figuratively putting on a pair of glasses.
Such as:
-Asking a trusted family member or friend for a listening ear.
-Providing that listening ear to another.
Serving others is a powerful way to strengthen us in our own challenges.
-Committing to a daily spiritual practice.
-Meeting your physical and emotional needs on a daily basis.
Being open to receiving the seemingly small helps can lighten your load and increase your capacity for a happy life.
I invite you to accept help today, whether you provide it for yourself, or say yes to someone who offers.
Sending you my love and encouragement.
Much love,
