I just witnessed what it means to be truly committed to being your best self!
What did I see?
A woman, who after
- traveling over 24 hours transatlantic
- crossing 9 time zones
- having no sleep
- spending many hours in airports
- arriving home at last and getting to bed after midnight
waking up with the sun and continuing with her finely-honed routine of strengthening her body, mind and spirit!
Why would she do this?
Because she knows what it means to be her best self!
She knows that committing to meet her physical, emotional and spiritual needs on a daily basis is vital to becoming the person she knows she can be.
This is my daughter, who after serving as a missionary for our church for the last 18 months and making the sacrifices necessary to serve others with all her heart, might, mind and strength, knows what it takes to be her best self!
Out of concern for her health I had suggested to her the night before, to sleep in as long as she could the next day. She respectfully listened, but I met up with her on her way out the door to go running first thing in the morning! She’d had only a few hours of sleep!
Not only did she go running but she spent time in personal prayer and reading the scriptures, something she had faithfully been attending to on a daily basis for the last year and a half.
Do you have a morning routine, a quiet, sacred hour to prepare yourself to serve in your profession, your home or community? Let my daughter inspire or re-ignite your desire to become your best self!
Can my 20-year old daughter teach me a thing or two? Oh, yes! And I humbly and proudly say, “I am willing to learn!”
Much love,
