Have you ever experienced a mistake that turned out to be better than the original?
I called my latest a happy mistake.
I’m a person who likes things to go as planned.
I like to know what the end result will be.
So, I was not sure what to do when I discovered I was incorrectly crocheting a stitch when over halfway finished with a project.
-Do I take it out, and start over?
-Do I continue on, even though it was wrong?
-Do I give up in frustration?
That’s always an option.
As I considered the project, and what I intended the end result to be, I realized that I much preferred the look my mistake had made.
It was much more interesting, and suited the purpose of the craft.
Not only did I then decide to continue on, but I wrote down how to do that exact mistake so I could replicate it in future projects.
What was a mistake by stitch definition, created a more desirable end result.
Have there been experiences, or decisions made in your life that at first seemed to be mistakes?
Might the end result actually be better, than the one you originally planned?
I often find myself with the expectation of how things should be, and in that rigidness, loose the good fortune that happy mistakes might bring.
I invite you to allow yourself to be open to the opportunities that being flexible in the process might provide you, and have the fun of experiencing your own happy mistakes!
Much love,
