Today is the first day of Spring.
It doesn’t seem that way where I live because snow is covering the ground.
The forecast calls for continued snow and cold temperatures.
But,
I know that warmer weather is in the future.
HOPE
How do I know?
Every year the seasons change, and the days get warmer.
I may not know the exact date that the feeling of spring will arrive, but it has happened every year since the earth was created.
I can trust there is a higher power at work.
Sunny days are ahead.
Just as the physical weather can be dark or oppressive, so also can the figurative storms of life at times be heavy and difficult.
When facing trials or heartaches it is sometimes hard to believe the darkness will end.
The light seems far away or even non-existent.
Yet,
There is a higher power at work.
REMINDERS
I’d like to share three reminders that help me in times of difficulty.
1. Remember the challenging times you’ve faced before.
You’ve overcome hard times before, and you will again. In fact, what you’ve experienced before has increased your capacity to overcome today.
2. Remember that you are not alone.
It may be a little uncomfortable. You may have to reach out. But there are always people who want to help, who are actually very happy to help you in your time of need.
3. Remember there is a higher power at work.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8–9).
And because God loves us we can trust and follow his counsel.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Though I would prefer not to experience the pain and sorrow of hard times, and I’d prefer to see green grass and flowers outside my window, I know that Spring will arrive, and I know that with God’s help trials and heartache will be overcome!
Much love,
