New Years in May? No, I’m not talking about goals.
I recently read an article by Leo Babauta. “How to Make the Most of the Fresh Start of a New Year.” Even though we are well into the year, I found his suggestions encouraging and a great reminder to me to focus on what’s important.
He encourages us to:
1. Let go. Let go of the baggage of previous failures, emotions, blocks, fears, reluctance, ideas of what your life is supposed to look life, habits that are holding you back. Isn’t it wonderful to realize you have a fresh start each day?!
2. Decide what matters most. Ask yourself what excites and invigorates you? What will help you become the best person you can become?
3. Clear away distractions and focus. Email, Facebook, Twitter, phones, computers, etc. all can easily steal our time. Take a break. Focus on what’s important.
4. Choose to feel happiness now. Don’t look to find answers in the elusive “some day.” Happiness is not a destination. It is possible right now. Learn to be happy now, and do what you love.
These are only some of his suggestions but they all carry with them, keys to overcoming blocks in our lives. I encourage you to start with just one and see how applying it daily can create some positive changes in your life.
Here’s to your beautifully, focused and happy week!
Love,
