On the wall, next to my desk, I have a bulletin board covered with inspirational quotes, uplifting pictures, thoughts, ideas, etc. One of those quotes is from my mentor, Allyson Chavez. She told me this at a particularly challenging time for me and had me write it down and commit it to memory! This is what she said,
“I do not fix problems. I fix my thinking then problems fix themselves.”
That was a huge insight for me and something that has helped me to see problems in a new light. I used to see problems as…well…problems, something to resist, fight and push against.
With that belief, no wonder I viewed problems in a negative, worrisome light, something to be avoided at all costs. But since I’ve learned the skills of mind management and the power that comes when we know how to change our thoughts, life has become so much more joyful and exciting because I know I can face whatever comes my way! I may not know the solution to a problem, but I know that changing my thoughts about it will open the way for the solution to arrive.
It’s been amazing to me and I want to share with you a few insights:
– Though it may not feel like it, every disappointment or challenge, is in fact an opportunity to get better. Read that again. Every disappointment or challenge, is in fact an opportunity to get better!
It’s up to you, if you will take advantage of that opportunity.
– Napolean Hill stated in “Outwitting the Devil,” “You are where you are and what you are because of your thoughts and your deeds.”
O.K. that’s not my insight, but it is very insightful!
– Be selective of where you spend your thoughts, for actions follow thought.
– It’s not the events that necessarily change our lives, but rather our attitude about them.
Our minds are powerful. Your mind is a gift and the ability to think is a blessing. Are you using it to your greatest potential?
What are your thoughts about thinking? Share in the comments below. I’d love to hear (and think about yours). 🙂
