I watched one of my favorite movies the other day, “Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium,” and saw things I hadn’t noticed before. Funny how life experiences change the way we view things we thought we already understood.
In this delightful film, we come to know a magical toy store and the people who are influenced by its charm. It was interesting to me to notice how each of the character’s lives were lived according to their beliefs. Though they were in the same environment they saw things differently and therefore had different experiences. What they saw and experienced depended on what they chose to believe.
The movie is about a magical toy store known as Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. The owner, Mr. Magorium hires an accountant to get all the business paper work sorted out so he can pass the store on to his store manager, Molly Mahoni. She is a young woman who feels stuck and disappointed in her life. The accountant or “mutant” as the character is called in the movie is very logical and precise and doesn’t seem to fit in.
Where the “mutant” cannot see anything magical about the store, Molly sees the enchantment in the store but cannot see the magic within herself. Mr. Magorium, on the other hand, sees the wonder in not only the store but in Molly and each and every person. He recognizes that Molly will not be able to see the miracle that is herself until she is given the opportunity to discover it.
Which of these characters do you see yourself in? Are you the accountant who can’t see the magic in anything, the Molly Mahoni who though she sees and enjoys the magic in the store, cannot see the wonder within herself or are you Mr. Magorium who sees, understands and believes in the magic in each and every person and in the world around him?
The more we open ourselves up to the magic and beauty in each moment of our lives, the more the world brings us the experiences to show us even greater beauty and magic then we could ever imagine!
I hope you have a magical and wonderful day, today and every day!
Love,
