The other day I was becoming annoyed about something. I don’t even remember what the issue was, but at the time I felt justified in my irritation and it was beginning to show. As my annoyance was becoming more and more obvious I heard a voice say, “Mom, what can you do in this moment to raise your vibration?” It caught me off guard and made me laugh to hear my own words being repeated back to me by my youngest daughter. (Maybe they are listening. 🙂 )
It was a very good question and one which when answered, can change how we feel in any given moment. Yes, with a conscious decision we can change the emotions we are experiencing.
What can you do in that moment of annoyance? The list is endless, but here are a few suggestions: Take a breath.
- Focus on something positive.
- Repeat an uplifting thought.
- Take a break from your task for just a few minutes.
- Go for a walk.
- Change your physical environment.
- Get up and move your body.
- Pray.
- Meditate.
- Think of all that is going right.
- Take a power nap.
- Give gratitude.
The list can go on and on. The point is that it does not take much to change the direction of your thoughts and therefore your mood. It just takes a conscious decision and then the action to support your new thought.
When you are feeling frustrated, annoyed or even angry ask yourself what you can do in that very moment to change the way you’re feeling. It might surprise you how easy it can be.
