Holidays can be wonderful times of family, fun and laughter, but they can also be times of unnecessary stress.
It is easy to get over-loaded with plans and activities and lose sight of the purpose of the celebration.
I have found one way that helps me quickly diminish the feeling of overwhelm.
- Keep it simple
We often hear this refrain, but how often do we live it?
Two questions to ask yourself to help you determine how successful you are in keeping things simple are:
- What is the purpose of this event or activity?
- Is what I’m doing or planning bringing me closer to the desired end result?
For example:
Will this activity keep myself and loved ones overly busy, or will it strengthen and deepen relationships?
Will over-indulging cause me to feel ill, or can a simple and delicious shared meal increase connection with loved ones?
If you desire more meaning in your celebrations, perhaps keeping it simple and remembering your purpose will be the answer.
