My children have often taught me valuable lessons.
Years ago, two of my daughters arrived home late one evening after a full day of early morning piano lessons, school, track practice, and first performance of their high school play.
They were tired and hungry.
My one daughter who normally eats a bowl of cereal before bed if she’s hungry, chose instead to heat up the leftover Brussels sprouts from dinner.
Who does that?!
She devoured them and said, “I must need these, because these Brussels sprouts taste sooo good!”
I’m not kidding! That is what she said!
Have you ever heard anyone, much less a sugar-loving teenager, say she loved Brussels sprouts?! *(Recipe below).
I still smile when I think of her relishing those tiny cruciferous vegetables.
What pleased me so much was that she was listening to her body, and responding.
Are You Listening?
Do you hear what your body is telling you?
Over the years I have been trying to learn the skills of listening and acting on what my body is telling me.
As I’ve increased my ability, I’ve noticed an improvement not just physically, but spiritually.
Learning to listen to my body has expanded my capacity to hear spiritual promptings.
The body and spirit are so closely connected that as you increase your ability in one are, you also improve your ability in the other.
The more you respond to your body’s messages of what it needs, the more you become capable of hearing and responding to the messages from your spirit.
And, as you trustingly respond to your spirit, the more in tune you become to the messages of your body.
As we listen and respond both physically and spiritually the more empowered and confident we become.
I invite you to listen to your body, and experiment with what it is truly saying to you.
You might then notice that your intuition is also getting stronger.
Much love,
