When I’m cold, I put on a sweater or turn up the heat.
When my hands are dry, I rub them with scented lotion.
When I’m hungry, I find food in my refrigerator or eat at a restaurant.
When I’m dirty, I turn on a tap and out pours hot, running water.
When I need to go somewhere, I drive my car or board public transportation.
When I’m lonely, I call a friend.
On and on, my blessings are brought to my mind.
Blessings that provide me with ease and comfort.
I ask myself why me?
It’s not through any merit of my own.
The reply comes to me in questions.
Will you provide a sweater to someone who is cold?
Will you provide lotion for someone whose skin is dry?
Will you provide food for someone who is hungry?
Will you provide water for someone who thirsts?
Will you provide transportation for someone who is housebound?
Will you provide friendship for someone who is lonely?
Since I have been so richly blessed, how can I not provide the same for another?
Much love,
