Not long ago I was comforted to receive a simple inspired response to a contentious situation.
I had awakened feeling disconnected from my family and uncertain how the conversation of the night before would affect everyone that day.
The details are unimportant. But maybe you’ve experienced something similar when opinions differ and emotions run high.
As is my tendency, and maybe yours also, I wanted to fix the situation.
Yet I wasn’t sure it was my place, and that my trying might make things worse.
I prayed about the situation specifically that morning, and an impression came to mind.
It was simple, clear and direct.
At first I wasn’t sure it was an answer because of its simplicity.
The impression that came to me was “Be kind.”
I was surprised, but quickly realized the inspiration behind the response.
I may not know the answers or how to fix a situation, but I could always be kind.
I’ve since had more opportunities to experience
-uncertainty
-frustration
-disagreement
-anger
In every circumstance, remembering to be kind opens the way for
-solutions
-forgiveness
-healing
-peace
Such a simple, unassuming truth.
Be kind.
When you’re in the right. When you’re in the wrong. When there’s nothing you can do. Or when there’s everything you can do.
Be kind.
A simple, inspired response to any situation.
Sending you encouragement to be kind in the situations you face each day.
Much love,
