Are you someone who finds it is easier to give than to receive?
Because you believe that it is better to give than to receive, perhaps you resist accepting the support of others.
You know your service is valuable and needed, yet you may wonder why you get weary and even resentful at times.
After years of focusing only on what I could give, I learned that giving without receiving creates an imbalance in our spirit that interferes with our ability to serve.
Brene Brown said,
“Until we can receive with an open heart, we’re never really giving with an open heart. When we attach judgment to receiving help, we knowingly or unknowingly attach judgment to giving help.”
For that reason, you might relate to the feeling of frustration when you’ve wanted to do something for someone you care for only to have your efforts rejected.
Not being able to receive interrupts the natural, intended flow of life.
If all you ever did was breathe out, without taking a breath in, you would die.
The receiving is as important as the giving.
“…when you receive, not only do you affirm your own worthiness and open the way for more, but you make possible even greater joys for the giver.” Mike Dooley
How much more effective your nurturing will be as you allow yourself to gratefully receive.
My invitation to you is to look at your service, and see how you might become a happier, more influential giver as you more graciously learn to receive.
Much love,

This is a profound thought that I feel like I’m hearing for the first time! Thank you!

I remember my mother trying to teach us to “just say thank you,” when we’d automatically start explaining a compliment away. And now I catch myself, and smile, thinking of my mother as I, just say thank you.
