I can easily get distracted, and at the end of the day wonder what I’ve accomplished.
In my quest to overcome this tendency, I’ve discovered a simple remedy, that when applied makes all the difference.
Clear the clutter.
Whether it’s a cluttered desk or a cluttered mind, distractions lessen our productivity.
I’ve wasted many hours trying to ignore the untidiness of my desk or the chaos in my mind.
When taking a few moments to attend to the disorder, my energies are freed up to better focus on the task at hand.
I immediately become more productive.
Have you ever been at your desk, and hear the insistent buzz of a fly at the window? (I’m actually experiencing this at this very moment.)
You try to ignore it, but the noise interrupts your thoughts.
Take a moment. Grab the fly-swatter, and eliminate the distraction.
Have you started a project only to find that the remnants from a previous project are in the way?
Instead of shoving the disorder aside, take a minute, and put things where they belong.
Start with a clean slate.
A few moments to put things right, frees up your energy to start fresh.
Taking a moment now not only saves time in the long run, but results in a better outcome.
Not a new thought, but a helpful reminder.
Whether the clutter be mental or physical, I invite you to take care of those things you’ve been trying to ignore, and enjoy the benefits of a clear and focused environment.
Much love,
