We associate the beginning of a new year as the best time for self-improvement, yet in reality each day holds the possibility of a fresh start.
New Year’s suggestions can be helpful any time.
In an article by Leo Babauta, “How to Make the Most of the Fresh Start of a New Year,” I found suggestions and reminders to re-focus our personal growth habits.
He encourages us to:
1. Decide what matters most.
Ask yourself what excites and invigorates you? What will help you become the best person you can become?
2. Clear away distractions.
Email, Facebook, Twitter, phones, computers, etc. can easily steal our time. Eliminate the distractions and focus on what’s important.
3. Let go.
Let go of the baggage of previous failures, the emotions, fears, habits that are holding you back, especially the ideas of what your life is supposed to look like.
4. Choose to feel happy now.
Don’t wait for the elusive some day to feel happy. Believing that happiness can only be found at the end of the journey eliminates the joy we can experience in the process of day-to-day living.
I invite you to apply just one of these suggestions into your daily life and see what positive improvements result.
Here’s to your newly focused happy life!
Love,
