I’d like to invite you to look for ways you are supported in your challenges.
It’s easy to express gratitude for the physical support we receive.
- a meal brought in during a time of difficulty.
- financial support in a time of need.
- even someone opening the door for us or letting our car merge into traffic.
But what about the spiritual support? Do you pay attention to
- the times you’re emotionally spent yet somehow able to offer support to loved ones?
- when you are able to start a new day in a time of weighty worries?
- the ability to recognize and cling to hope when all seems dark?
Are you able to notice the spiritual strength you are given?
Of course it takes our personal effort and commitment to get through challenging times, but I wonder if too often we think we are doing it all on our own.
Are we unaware of the fact that we have spiritual assistance?
I wonder if we unknowingly limit the help we receive by not acknowledging the help we’re given.
We are not always aware of heavenly help.
When I’ve looked for and become aware of added spiritual support, I’ve seen that support show up in many ways.
Such as
- when I’ve been able to think kindly towards another when my tendency would have been to judge and find lacking.
- the times I’ve been able to be more patient and forgiving when another is not at his or her best.
- recognizing the need of showing kindness and compassion towards myself.
The Lord promised that if we would be humble in times of need and turn to him for aid, we would “be made strong, and be blessed from on high, and receive knowledge” (Doctrine and Covenants 1:28).
What a reassuring promise and gift of divine assistance.
Look for divine guidance and support, and it will surely come.
With love,
