Have you ever repeated an activity and yet had a totally different experience?
Yesterday I was hiking along a rocky trail for my morning exercise and noticed there was a set of footprints that was headed in the same direction. It didn’t take me long to realize they were my footprints from the day before. 🙂
It was the same time of day and the same path. Same exercise clothes, same shoes, same hair pulled up in the same messy bun. Even the sunny weather with a few clouds was similar.
So many things were the same and yet, I was having a totally different experience!
What made it different?
My thoughts!
It wasn’t a matter of positive or negative thoughts. They were just different thoughts from the day before that created different feelings within me.
I was fascinated with this observation and began to experiment by consciously changing my thoughts and noticing how I felt. That may seem like a weird activity, but it was interesting!
I discovered that as I changed my thoughts, I changed my emotional experience.
I experimented with thoughts that brought on melancholy and then thoughts that led me to contentment and even moved on to thoughts that created feelings of happiness. I chose not to experiment with sadness or other low vibration emotions.
Do you realize how powerful your mind is?
Do you frequently engage in routine activities, such as daily household chores or driving to work on the same route, that you have come to accept and expect to feel drudgery or boredom?
Instead, what if you decided to experiment, as I did and consciously choose your thoughts to create more of the emotions you want to have?
I’d love to hear the results of your experience! Drop me a line or comment below on this post.
